What is Hospice?

The concept of hospice is best summarized as treating the patient, not the disease.

Hospice care can be authorized when a patient with a terminal disease has a life expectancy of six months or less. Care is not limited to six months, however; if the patient outlives their diagnosis, they can continue to receive hospice care.

During the course of hospice care, our goal is to maximize comfort, function, quality of life and autonomy for the patient, while relieving some of the burden of care from the family.

What Hospice Care Provides

Our multi-disciplinary team work together to provide the following services to the patient and their family:

  • In-home care

  • Palliative care

  • Respite care

  • Wound care

  • Home health aides

  • Physical therapy

  • Specialized pain management

  • Counseling

  • Volunteer companionship

  • Chaplain services

We offer all four levels of hospice care that are covered by Medicare: routine home care, continuous care, respite care and in-patient care.
